Your day trip from Zagora to the magnificent Chegaga dunes begins early in the morning after picking up your motorcycles and receiving your desert driving instructions. Departure is set for 8:00 am as you ride through the scenic landscapes of southern Morocco. The journey first takes you to the village of Tamgroute, famous for its ancient pottery workshops, where you can observe local artisans creating traditional clay pots and gain insight into centuries-old Sahrawi craftsmanship. Continuing your ride, you will pass through charming desert villages, each offering a glimpse into the daily lives and culture of the Sahrawi people. The road gradually transforms into the golden expanse of the desert, and you will eventually reach the last village before the Sahara, where the towering dunes of Erg Chegaga begin to emerge on the horizon, inviting you to explore the stunning sea of sand that stretches as far as the eye can see.
Upon arrival at Erg Chegaga, you will enjoy a traditional lunch at a desert bivouac, surrounded by the serene and timeless beauty of the dunes. In the afternoon, there will be the opportunity to experience a camel ride, offering a chance to immerse yourself in the nomadic lifestyle of the Sahara and feel the rhythm of the desert under the guidance of local camel herders. Take your time to explore the vast dunes on foot or by motorbike, capturing photographs of the endless sand formations and the dramatic desert light. As the sun begins to dip toward the horizon, casting golden hues across the landscape, you will make the return journey to Zagora, reflecting on a full day of adventure, culture, and the unforgettable sights of Morocco’s Sahara Desert.
